Summer has arrived and with the days getting hotter, the desire for a hot coffee becomes more latent, while inexorably advances that of enjoying a nice coffee with ice!

Where does coffee with ice come from?
Coffee with ice is a typically Salentine product. In fact, in the hot summer of Lecce in the fifties, one of the drinks that were the most popular was cold coffee ; that is, the coffee prepared and sweetened in advance and then cooled in the refrigerator or freezer. The positive characteristic of the cold coffee was, therefore, the cooling effect; the negative notes , however, were a substantial loss of the initial aroma and the lack of possibility to dose the sugar according to the taster’s needs .
From the need to solve these “problems”, thanks to the ingenuity of a salentino who sold both coffee and blocks, it was good to pick ice, put it in a glass and pour the already sweetened coffee.

The method of preparation remained unchanged; the substantial difference lies in the fact that the piqued ice is no longer used, which has been replaced (for practicality and timing) by the full bucket cube.
But let’s move on to the other fundamental element: coffee!

The ingredients of the classic version are only three: 1 capsule of Armonioso, Ice, Sugar.

– Prepare a short espresso with the Armonioso capsule (half cup at most).
– put the sugar according to tastes of the taster and mix up to the cliffs the sugar totally.
– Fill a full glass of ice (the thick one).
